First web experience
Oh, memories. It'll be about a year soon from when I started on this crazy web design/development/administration for real. And I'm all changed on the field, really.

Actually, my very first web approach was on February of 2008, with my MYP personal project. It was a little website to publish news about my school. But I was using iWeb to build the website, and a little app to upload it (of course I didn't pay $100 to have some space with apple lol) xD The design was kind of nice, I made my own custom one. Though, everything in the back was a complete mess Tongue I learned some about hosting and domains (I purchased a .info for my proyect). And there it was... I only uploaded like 5 news in the whole year lol!

But anyways, it wasn't until Nov or December when a friend and I thought about making a anime forum (we were both crazy about it by that time, specially her xD). Then I knew about MyBB at zendfree (which was my host, it sucked after it was sold). I remember I tried about a week to install MyBB!!! It was just impossible for me! I finally made it somehow (I actually think someone helped me or even made it for me). Then I started to mess with MyBB, installing and trying stuff. And that's how I got to MyBBSource. There, I started to try to make a theme. And met Netsage (you won't remember me Alex, I had a different username), so I followed his sign, and registered at AdminLounge. There I learned pretty much all the basics about MyBB, and anything else required to run it. I won indiepaper.com there Big Grin and Alex was providing me hosting on his VPS until some weeks ago lol

And now, I'm here, after learning way much. Specially about CSS, a semantic xHTML, and jQuery (Heart).

That's basically the start of my web experience, which have been awesome IMO. Sometimes hard and stressing (servers, domains, hosting, transfers lol) and sometimes delighful (designing, coding).

RE: First web experience
I think my web roots lie somewhere around 2004~, first attempt at building a html website for a halo pc clan, it looked pretty good (well to me and the clan), and thats when I became hooked, i started learning about css, javascript, game servers, hosting, scripting, modding, unix systems, then started to learn about php and mysql, seo, project management, etc.

So guess my origins of web design came from gaming lol.

How about you sage?

RE: First web experience
Oh, ya guess I could post mine Tongue.

I've dabbed it in a few times before my story starts but nothing really ever went live Wink.

Lets see I would say about 6-7 years ago I just got in an Americas Army clan. Well their site sucked Tongue (and the host too). So I thought I would help try set up the new one (this is awhile after I joined as i knew everyone). While helping them out where I could I also got into graphics (yes I used to have photoshop open for hours ever day, however I lost my gfx talent Sad).

So since theirs was all set up I decided to make a graphics forum. It went no where but I learned a lot about managing things and what not. And, I don't remember anything else after that Tongue. I know I closed it and tried other projects but don't remember much.

I did have a falling out with my clan though as I was made an Admin but I didn't like the path the rest of them were taking. So I left and the clan soon fell apart after words Big Grin. I just dabbed into all the different scripts I guess and that's why I know what to use for what Tongue.

RE: First web experience
It actually has been only MONTHS, I think about 8 months?) since I started web development and WEB designing, but almost two years ago I got into making signatures for an anime site.

In April I made Setsou Design, which was my first site and design project, it failed due to 'some' people, 4 months later after that, here I am getting SD back to it's feet with new administration.

RE: First web experience
X3 It's pretty different from making signatures that's for sure. I've had two people helping me to make my graphics better, I'm really thankful of them and I still go to them for tips on how I could make it better. Smile It's nice to read that you've progressed when the people who helped you get to where you were are the ones saying it, I know it's silly, but it means a lot for me, I don't think they know that.

X3 I've only had two years in graphic experience overall, just a couple of months with CS3, I started with elements and never wanted to move from there because I felt ok, PS 7 scared me.

RE: First web experience
Yeah, it's different. But the graphic skill is really useful. After that, coding is easier IMO. And I'm sure the people who helped you out think of you and your progress as something very important and special. Because they helped to develop your current ability, it's part of their dedication, isn't it?

And it's interesting, I never managed to learn Elements, was hard for me Tongue So I just stepped into CS3, and I'm currently using CS4, but have no differene for me lol

RE: First web experience
Ever since CS3 I've been lost Sad. I stayed with CS2 for awhile actually but now I have CS4 but rarely use it.
