New Laptop!

New Laptop!
Well I ordered a new laptop that I think I'm going to love (hope so for how much I paid Tongue).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6834220605

I mean look at it! The only things I think I may not like are the heat(it's got to be hot), battery life (due to the same reasons it has to be hot), and the cover(don't know what to call it, but I was trying to find something more professional looking).

RE: New Laptop!
I saw it's price! And since I have no idea of what those fancy names mean, I'll assume is really a monster!

And how can you tell it'll heat a lot?

Oh, I see what you mean with the cover. I guess saying monster was the right word Tongue It looks cool, why you want to look professional now, you'll have time for that the rest of your life. The only thing I didn't quite like was the mouse pad, it's got a weird light gray big border? (I'm just looking at the thumbnails)

EDIT: ohhh! It's even got a numeric pad! I love those! Really really handy! I've been looking to buy one, I just went with my aunt to buy one on tuesday, it's nice.

RE: New Laptop!
I didn't even look at the track pad Tongue. I rarely use them (only whenever I forget my mouse and with the back pack I'll just keep my wireless in there Tongue).

I can tell it's going to be hot because of the processor (their always hot but it's going to be cooking for sure), graphic card (adds to this as well), and 2 7200rpm hard drives. That's all in a very tiny amount of space so it's going to cook.

I wanted professional because well I like clean cut looks Tongue.

Fancy names?

RE: New Laptop!
Yeah, just look at the name of the product:
Quote:ASUS G Series G51J-A1 NoteBook Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 640GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M

Or maybe I got used to have only one word on the name Confused (even if it's completely useless that way and tell you nothing at the first glance lol)

I only use my trackpad, it's really big, and have some really useful functions. And therefore, I wouldn't be able to use your laptop Sad I'm left handed and the pad is on a right handed position xD

RE: New Laptop!
Well I'll break it down for you Tongue.

ASUS - company that made the laptop
G Series - It's part of their gaming series
G51J-A1 - Specific model ( don't know details on specifics of that)
Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) - The processor
15.6" - Screen Size Tongue
4GB Memory - Amount of ram
640GB HDD 7200rpm - Hard Drive Space and the how many revolutions the platter can perform every minute.
DVD Super Multi - Basically a dvd player/burner
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M - NVIDIA is a graphics card company, Geforce is one of their lines, GTX is well a detail of the level of the card, and 260 is the specific model.

RE: New Laptop!
I thought you'd get on a deeper explanation Tongue I'm not that dumb lol

Why the processor have that weird name? i7 720QM? i eat at 7-11 which is at 720 mins making a huge Queu from My home?? Or does it have a iCore or something like that xD

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (from last year), what does it actually means? I'm not sure, just knew it was a graphic card or something like that Tongue

RE: New Laptop!
Well the i7 is what's replace core 2 family (and it's 45 nanometers which is/was a big deal too). The QM is just well I don't know Tongue but I would take a huge guess and say maybe the m stands for mobile.

I know the M in the graphics card is for mobile Tongue. A lot of it just stuff that doesn't matter and is just numbering of the models that intel choose. No specific reason to my knowledge(aside of keeping track of things).

RE: New Laptop!
Ohh, that's cool, didn't have idea of the i7 thing. I think the last update I had on that was the Pentium 2? lol I assume 45 nanometers is really really small, then why will that heat up?
