I love CSS3. I think most people who are into web design do too. However, some people just use CSS3 straight away without thinking "hey, does this design need rounded corners?" or "how will this design look in browsers that don't yet support CSS3?". I have seen a lot of people use rounded corners, box shadows and text shadows to great effect in firefox and webkit based browsers. Fire up IE to look at the design as 60% of users would though and it's another story.

Anybody else got any thoughts on the use of CSS3? Should it be used sparingly? Or are you one of those who would rather put a "get firefox" label on their designs?

The theme still needs to be finished, and need to create a decent logo, and decide on a suitable background.

Theme is variable width, and the postbit is modified slightly from the default MyBB theme.

(The reason why the elements look squished, is that i took the screenshots with it being windowed)
(my resolution is 1920x1080, so the image would be quite large)

Would like some input please

Oh clients... an appealing experience or a big headache. I usually (or used to) get nice people as clients. They would tell me what they want, I'd take out more info from them, and then it goes smoothly.

But this two last clients were the worst I've had so far... I managed to finish the work for one of them, but I just had to quite working with the other one. What they had in common was their blocked mind. They wanted me to copy some websites, which I obviously refused to do.

I convineced the first one to move to another style from scratch... but he wasn't nice during the process either.

The other one was a different story, he wanted me to copy another theme, I gave him a different but a bit similar concept. And he was like "oh like that, go ahead". But when I was done he started to request "some changes" to make it look exactly the same. It was too much... I won't ever copy somebody else's design (as I don't want that to happend to me). I had to tell him I wouldn't do that, and recommended him some other themers who'd accept to his request.

I just downloaded Google Chrome for mac! I remember I wanted to give it a try and subscribed to their email list. But never got any mail from them. And today, I just opened Google, and I saw a notification saying "Try Google Chrome" and I was like "Did Google went dumb? there's no Chrome for my OS" so clicked it. And it was there :O A beta release.

I used it for a few minutes... but it was like another Safari But even more minimalistic. The web developer tools are horrid compared to Safari's, even though they are the same tools and everything (even the same icons).

I find the little effects to open tabs and all that a bit buggy, and fairly unnecessary (since they appear form the bottom and things slide to the right o.O).

I realized it was changed today :O (but knew it would be changed a while ago)

The new logo is kind of nice, but the buttons are horrible IMO! They are so bright and big I'm also not keen about the options on the left when you search, I was so used to live w/o them...

The only thing I liked, was how the suggestions have a quite big size and no matter how many they are, you can still see the search buttons on the bottom (those are way better BTW )

Another thing I noticed, and considered senseless, is how when the homepage loads you'll only see the search area, and then the rest would fade in.

Anyways, what are your thoughts?

While designing, sometimes you get a sudden spark of creativity, but others it's harder to make what you want (or you were requested to ). In those cases, do you look for inspiration somehow?

Personally, the best way I get inspiration is by drawing sketchs on hand, and then I get more ideas when making it on computer. Though, I usually leave that for the very end (lol) before that, I browse some galleries (but usually leave them as I fear I might end up with a very similar design), then I walk away from the computer, take water or something and then I try again in the computer. If that doesn't work, I'd just start drawing xD

Border and Outline (and other thoughts on CSS(3)?)

This thread might not be very interesting, or new. But this are the kind of things people that happends to people that does not google every word and that likes to think and over-complicate an issue (like me )

So about a month ago I knew about the existence of outline as a CSS property. And I was like, "so is just another border?". But I realized the diference like two weeks ago! The border is like inside the element, while the outline is outside (oh that's huge). But anyways, the borders get rounded when you use border-radius, but the outline doesn't.

In the design I was workin on, the ideal thing would be to have a border and an outline in order to achieve the 2px pop technique w/o any images. But it was rounded with CSS. So it was not possible, because the outline would remain as an square. So I thought of others way of making it, the first one was to add an extra wrapper, but I'm not killing my semantics for this, so it was a no. Then, it was the CSS3 borders with images... it'd make the trick, but not in IE (and other browsers) and this same property would make many others things possible, even an alternate CSS3 method of making rounded corners, and many other neat things with a little of imagination. So, I could only make a 1px*1px white image (that would make the line to contrast with the dark border) and set is as background of the element, I set it to repeat-x and be 1px away of the top. And there it was done, but I had to use another image, another HTTP request, slower.

So that lead me to think, when we'll be able to work with CSS3 and unleash our creativity with it. Having faster loads, and cleaner markups and CSS. I wanted to go the CSS3 conference in New York that took place this year

But, there's also some light on the no-so-far-away future, Microsoft recently announced IE9 would have CSS3 support The bad thing is, when will people upgrade? Probably never, or when their computers completely crashes and they are forced to buy new licenses.

I hate to ask for support since I only won this theme, but I am getting that Invalid theme error and I haven't changed anything besides the logo URL and added some links in the MyBB ACP.

I read the PDF and didn't find anything on this, but I also get this Invalid error when I go to the indiePaper Demo board. Here is a screen shot:

I also noticed that one of the icon images is off.gif instead of off.png, which seems weird.

And just curious, how much is credit removal?

Thanks if anyone has any solutions. I have a test account available if needed.

Well, yeah... it's the end of the year. And is usually a big fest and everything is cheery (at least for me). I just love this time of the year. Though, I haven't felt like letting everything in yet I don't want it to be over-used for when the actual Christmas come...
But anyways, I think I won't be able to hold it anymore

I'm not publishing the users right away, so you'll have to watch and hear me talking through the video (ohh that will be creepy ). Some loud thoughts along the video, not nice voice, etc, just ignore that to have a better experience lol
